The Bighorn Fire: Looking Ahead to Restoration and Resilience

Tuesday, July 14, 5 – 6 pm

Climate Tucson welcomes fire ecologist and UA professor Donald Falk, who will give us an inside look at the scope and consequences of the Bighorn Fire that has to date burned more than 118,710 acres from Pusch Ridge east to the Cochise County line. Falk’s research focuses on fire history, fire ecology, and ecological restoration and resilience in a changing world.

Falk is a professor at the UA School of Natural Resources and the Environment, with joint appointments in the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research and the Institute of the Environment.  In 2015, Falk was a Research Delegate to the Paris climate summit. He holds degrees from Oberlin College, Tufts University, and the University of Arizona, where he received his PhD in 2004.
